• Take a flight from Delhi to Leh after breakfast.
• Leh is the gateway to the Himalayas and is located at a high height of 3500 m; as a result, after checking into a hotel, you have the rest of the day free to do as you choose and acclimate to the altitude and air pressure.
• In the evening, stroll through the markets in Leh.

• Enjoy breakfast and get ready for a full-day excursion of nearby famous monasteries.
• Locations covered during the day:
• Hemis Monastery: A restored Buddhist shrine from the 17th century, it is also known as Hemis Gompa. The monastery is well-known for its collection of gold sculptures, Thangkas, and Tibetan-book library, as well as for hosting the yearly Hemis festival. Largest Thungkas (traditional paintings), are presented during the event every 12 years.
• Thiksey Monastery: A statue of Maitreya Buddha measuring 49 feet tall is housed in this 12-story monastery. In addition, the adjacent mountains are shrouded in clouds due to the high height, creating a picturesque panorama that draws hundreds of people to the area. The yearly Gustor ceremony, which is held at Thiksey Gompa under the Gelukpa Order of Buddhism, also features a sacred mask dance.
• Shey Monastery: The Shey Monastery complex, which is 15 kilometres outside of Leh, includes a monastery and a palace. The royal family resided in this palace until the 19th century, which was built by King Deledan Namgyal. The monastery is well-known for its two annual celebrations, Shey Doo Lhoo and Shey Rupla, as well as its enormous copper statue of Shakyamuni Buddha that is covered in gold.
• After this long day of sightseeing, return to the hotel in Leh, have dinner and retire to bed.

• In the morning, we will depart towards Alchi and stop at two renowned monasteries en route:m
• Spituk Monastery: Its name translates to “exemplary,” was established in the eleventh century. 100 monks reside in this hilltop monastery, which also has a museum with a sizable collection of historical masks, thangkas, and a giant statue of Kali.
• Phyang Monastery: The Drikung Kagyu sect owns this Ladakh monastery, which takes its name from the Gang Ngonpo, a blue mountain that serves as the monastery’s backdrop. Early in the 16th century, Denma Kunga Drakpa established the monastery. The Phyang museum houses a large collection that includes thangkas, Tibetan and Mongolian weapons, idols, and texts that are 900 years old.
• By late evening reach Alchi. Check-in at a hotel for an overnight stay.

• After breakfast leave for Alchi Monastery.
• Alchi Monastery – This 11th-century monastery, which was constructed before any invasion battles began and is said to be the oldest, is situated on a plain rather than a mountaintop. Although religious practises have not been practised at this monastery for about 500 years, wall carvings and ancient wall paintings nevertheless make it one of the most popular destinations.m
• Have lunch before continuing on to Lamayuru, our next stop.
• It is one of the largest monasteries in Ladakh and one of the two that adhere to the Drikung Kagyu school of Buddhism. Because of its historical significance and scenic beauty, it is well-liked by tourists. This monastery oversees 50 other monasteries in the region, and 300 monks are registered under the management.

• This day will begin with an early morning tour to Rizong. As you must cross a kilometer-long, steep path solely on foot to get to this monastery, the visit also offers a chance for hiking.
• Rizong Monastery: Founded in the 19th century, it is believed Guru Padmasambhava meditated in nearby caves. The monastery upholds stringent monastic standards such as the “Vinaya Rules,” which mandate that adherent monks abstain from all earthly comforts and give up all material belongings.
• Later that evening we will leave for Leh, en route visiting Likir Monastery.
• Likir Monastery: This 11th century houses a 75 feet tall statue of Buddha.
• Reach Ladakh by evening for an overnight stay.

• After days of monastery visits, the next few days are planned to give an experience of Local culture.
• We will head to village Saboo after breakfast at the hotel.
• Saboo: This beautiful village is located 7 km from Leh and you will get to visit local Buddhist residences and taste authentic Ladakhi cuisine.
• After a full day of walks and talking in this village, return back to the hotel in Leh.

• The Royal family of Ladakh currently resides in the palace in the hamlet of Stok.
• After breakfast, go to Stok to see the Stok Monastery and Palace.
• Return to Leh for the night.
